Soul'd Out Music Festival

The eighth annual Soul’d Out Music Festival is coming back April 18th through 22nd to Portland. With some of the biggest acts in soul, jazz, and hip-hop lined up throughout the city, there’s sure to be a little something for everyone.

According to Willamette Week, “the Soul’d Out Music Festival was created in November 2009, with the inaugural festivities scheduled for April 2010, as a means by which to give a platform to music often overlooked by the commercial music industry, as well as to firmly [enshrine] Portland as the West Coast’s premier independently-minded music market.”

One of the coolest parts about this fest is that it’s not just in one location for one day, it’s across the city over five days. Pick and choose which shows you want or grab an all-access ticket to see as many as you want (while they’re still available). Shows can be seen everywhere from the Roseland Theater, to Holocene, to Mississippi Studios, and more.

Since their first edition back, Soul’d Out Music Festival has brought some of the biggest names in the business. In their first year they headlined with Buddy Guy, 2011 had Ms. Lauryn Hill and Mos Def, 2012 had Maze, 2013 brought Ghostface Killah, 2014 was Pink Martini, 2015 brought Bad Brains, 2016 had Bonnie Raitt and Gary Clark Jr., and last year brought The Ohio Players, but this year they’ve outdone themselves. Check out the full list below, but we’re most excited about Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Wyclef Jean, and Fiji.
