Are you sitting down DC, because the 9:30 Club’s parent company, I.M.P., is about to open a new venue called Anthem in southwest DC. And we’re not talking some cute lil’ thing, we’re looking at a massive new space for the area as well as a draw that will most likely bring even more band-goers to the area.

What’s does Anthem offer, you ask?

  • Cost: $60 million
  • When: Scheduled to open October 12th, 2017
  • Capacity: 6,000
  • Moveable stage and backdrop
  • On the wharf (a $2 billion development on the waterfront)
  • 24 acres of land and 50 acres of water

Anthem

The group is definitely no stranger to venue ownership, operating both the Merriweather Post Pavilion, Lincoln Theater, and recently celebrating the 9:30 Club’s 35th anniversary.

They’re hoping the venue brings in rockers, lecturers, seminars, and more creating the neighborhood’s newest and most drawing cultural center.

Are there any other venues coming to the area that we should know about? What’s next for DC? Tell us on Twitter!
