That’s right – SXSW is looking for hosts for international artists traveling to the United States to participate in the festival. Their hope is to offset the lodging costs for international artists who have other expenses to tend to. In exchange for lodging, the festival is offering music wristbands to hosts. This opportunity has occurred in the past but seems to be more prominently advertised in 2018.
You heard me right. Let an artist sleep in your home, and you get to go to SXSW! If you’re looking to meet sosme new people and attend the music festival on a budget, it sounds like the perfect deal to me.
There’s certain caveats to applying. For example, the closer your residence is to the city center, the more likely you are to be chosen. Also, artists must have an actual bed to sleep on (yes, air mattresses are okay); floors pretty much disqualify you.
Hosts aren’t expected to provide transport or food, but since it’s Austin, there’s always a desire for extra Texan hospitality. Think your place is as good an Airbnb as any? Apply here.
