I’m not talking about the actual KISS or Journey. I’m talking about the Houston-bred versions of these bands. Equally as awesome and probably in better condition to play live at this point in their lives. Even though you may not know the names of the performers themselves, watching a band of unknown caricatures is always better than watching the actual band as caricatures of themselves.
These shows may lack star power, but they offer the intimacy, ticket prices, and fun that a show of this volume could not normally offer:
Kiss Alike featuring VHT and Synchronicity II
House of Blues Houston
1204 Caroline Street
Houston, TX 77002
On Saturday, June 10th, Houston’s own Kiss Alike will be headlining at the House of Blues, with VHT (Van Halen Tribute Band), and Synchronicity II (A Tribute to the Police) as openers. Three powerhouse bands at a fraction of the cost. I mean, think about it, The Police as openers? Really? In this case, yes.
Escape featuring Nightbird
2706 White Oak Drive
Houston, TX 77007
On the very same night, in the very same city, is yet another locally grown tribute band. Escape (a Journey Tribute Band), also from Houston, will be playing at Fitzgerald’s with Nightbird (a Stevie Nicks tribute band) as the feature. Between the band and the historic venue, the depths and ghosts of rock and roll history will linger in the noise of the crowd.
For Houston music-lovers, there is clearly no lack of nostalgic hard rock pouring into the city skies. That will especially be the case on Saturday, June 10th.
To bask in this glorious night of classic hard rock, one would simply have to drop a few bucks or join Jukely immediately!
