His most recent album, Bury Me In Philly, is blowing up on Spotify with over a million and a half streams (as of this writing) and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down. Throughout the end of the year, he’ll be hitting over fifty cities across not only North America but also Europe.
The new record is the perfect mix of singer/songwriter with a pinch of Americana, and vocals that will no doubt remind listeners of Bryan Adams. The story arc of the album is something to be praised, and it solidifies Hause as not only a good lyricist, but a true wordsmith in the way he describes his world (if he somehow wasn’t already).
Listening to it makes you feel for him, especially on tracks like “Helluva Home” with the lines that really hit me, “Their knuckles are cracked / And they ring like an old broken bell / They kick and they scream / They call it brotherly love / But it seems like a living hell.” Just the amount of wordplay in that lil’ riff alone sets the album apart from most others.
While you may read the song list and see names like “My Mistake,” “Dirty Fucker,” and “Bury Me In Philly,” don’t be fooled, it’s not a negative album in the least. It’ll definitely hit you right in the feels, but in the end, it’s a positive to be buried in Philly.
When it’s all said and done, Hause mixes the perfect amount of punk, Americana, lyrics, and an outlook that’ll put a smile on anyone’s face.
