There’s nothing I love more than a really soulful sound. Unfortunately, most old soul songs aren’t really acceptable party music anymore.

But thankfully, we’ve got future soul. It’s the genre that can drag us bitter, nostalgic folks, kicking and screaming into the modern era.

One of the hottest new future soul artists is Josh Jacobson. He’s cool, has a great sound, and he brings wavy beats and a ton of groove. Exactly the kind of music you can chill to, or get down to if you’re feeling it. Think Anderson .Paak with a more minimal electronic production style and a Justin Timberlake-ish voice.

He just released his debut EP, First Light, and he’s about to head out on a little “First Light Tour” to support it. You can check him out at his first two stops in Chicago and New York. A little soul, a little groove, a lot of dance, and a great night out.
