In the past few years, Whores. has made a (derogatory) name for themselves. Their latest release, Gold, earned them several prestigious awards, including #10 Best Metal Record of 2016 by Rolling Stone, #1 Top Metal Albums of 2016 by Metalsucks, #1 Top Ten Releases for 2016 by Heavy Planet, and #1 Best of 2016 by Shiny Grey Monotone. Although many of these awards are under the genre of metal, Whores.’ music spans across a multitude of genres, noise rock being at the heart of their creations. One thing is for sure – this latest album is heavy.
One of the things that sets Gold apart, however, is that every song is seriously catchy. The songs stay with you after you’ve listened to them. The more you listen to them, the more you want to listen to them again. They give you energy, and it’s that energy that you keep coming back to get more. The best way to catch this energy and experience it yourself? Go to a live show.
On the Whores. live experience, Kelsey Zimmerman of Noisey writes, “At the helm is veteran musician Christian Lembach, whose knack for combining sludgy, crushing riffs and immense walls of feedback is amplified further during the band’s hypnotic live show. By all accounts, Lembach has never given less than his all for a crowd, and this assertion is validated by his tireless dedication to fan accessibility.”
You can check out the band’s intense, sweaty energy in their music video for “I See You Are Also Wearing A Black T Shirt” below. But believe me, you’ll want to see them perform this live in a crowd of equally sweaty bodies.
